Install Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac Version 12.1.0.553

(This user guide is applicable to Mac OS X 12 – macOS 15)

Attention:
  1. Please uninstall 3rd-party antivirus software or Kaspersky Antivirus software before installation.
  2. Please uninstall any Kaspersky Antivirus software before upgrading the major version of macOS. E.g. Upgrading operating system from macOS 14.x to macOS 15.x
  3. Please read the Kaspersky Hardware and Software Requirement before installation. This software version supports Intel-based Mac and Apple silicon-based Mac.
 

A. Download Kaspersky Endpoint Security 12 for Mac

  1. You must have your OnePass password ready for download and registration.
  2. Your computer must connect to the campus network. If you use your home computer, you must run CUHK VPN over your subscribed ISP network to connect your computer to the campus network.
  3. Your computer must meet the system requirement as specified at

  4. Go to the download page to download Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac Version 12.1.0.553:
    1.  Programme File
    2. Activation Code
  5. You will be redirected to License Agreement page. Read the agreement carefully and click "I AGREE" if you accept this agreement.
  6. Fill in the registration form for verification.
  7. Upon completion of the form, click "Submit form" to proceed verification.

B. Install Kaspersky Endpoint Security 12 for Mac

Before installation, you should first
  1. Back up your important files in other media like USB hard disk so that you can retrieve your data files in case of corruption during the installation. (Recommended)
  2. Disconnect your current Campus Network or other Internet connection.
  3. Uninstall your current version of Kaspersky or any other anti-virus software. Ref: part E. Uninstall Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac
  4. Restart your computer (without any network connection) before installing Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac Version 12.1.0.553:

Installation steps

  1. Double click the zip archive file to extract software installation package. Then double click the installer file "kesmac12.1.0.553.dmg" inside the extracted folder.

  2. Control-click or right click the Kaspersky Endpoint Security icon.
        Click Open to continue.
        Please note that a pop up Window for next step may be shown behind the current Window.

        
            

       



  3. Click Install button.

       

  4. Read the Software License Agreement.
        Check both boxes and click Accept to accept the Agreement.

       

  5. Read the Software KSN statement.
        We suggest clicking Accept to continue.

       

        In the pop up window, click Confirm to continue.

       

  6. Enter your computer user password and click OK > Continue to continue

        
       

    For macOS 15 or above, it will prompt message below. Click Allow to continue.

     

         

         

  7. The Kaspersky Endpoint Security icon will be shown on Menu Bar after several seconds.

  8. A window will pop out to ask for activation. 

    Click Activate button to continue, under “Enter an activation code”, key in the activation code that is available in our download page. Then click Activate button to continue. 





  9. After activation, you will see the key displayed. 



  10. There would be a pop-up window, Essential Protection.

    Please follow the instruction of the pop-up window to allow the associate permission to complete the setup. Screen might be different depending on macOS version.

    Details as below:

    For Full disk access please click Allow. 



    A Full Disk Access window will be prompted.
    Click Open Security & Privacy to continue.

     

    In the Full Disk Access prompted, enable the “Kaspersky Endpoint Security”.

     

    Input the Password of your computer and then click Modify Settings.





  11. A System Extension Installation window will be prompted. For System extension please click Install.

    For macOS 14 or below:

    Click Open Privacy & Security.

       



  12. In the Security & Privacy Windows prompted, under the alert of “System software from application "Kaspersky Endpoint Security Daemon" was blocked from loading.” click Allow to continue. 



  13. Input the Password of your computer and then click Modify Settings. 

    For macOS 15 or above:

    On the Windows “”kavd” would like to use a new endpoint security extension”, Click Open System Settings, it redirects you to “General > Login items & Extensions”. And it prompts the Windows of “Kaspersky Endpoint Security Daemon” , enable it. Input the password of your computer, click OK then click Done






  14. Back in the Essential Protection window,
          For Network content filtering, click Allow to continue. 



  15. Click Allow Filtering to continue. 



  16. Select Allow to continue the setup. 



  17. Back in the Essential Protection window,
          For Trusted certificate, click Install to continue.  



  18. Input the Password of your computer and click Update Settings. 



  19. Back in the Essential Protection window,
         Click Continue 



  20. Basic software installation is completed. 



  21. Please Restart computer to continue the setting. 

 
 
 
C. Software Activation
  1. If you don’t see the pop-up window in step 7 for production activation, please follow the steps below to complete the setup. You can click k from Menu Bar > Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

       
  2. Click the License icon. On the right hand side, under “Enter an activation code”, key in the activation code that is available in our download page. And then click Activate. 


       

  3. After activation, you will see the key displayed 

       

 

D. Software Settings

  1. To continue the setup of Kaspersky, please click k from Menu Bar > Kaspersky Endpoint Security.



  2. Under the menu of Kaspersky Endpoint Security, click Settings…. 



  3. In the tab Essential, click “Click the lock to make changes button” to unlock. Input the Password of your computer and click Modify Settings. Click Protection Scope…, 





  4. Uncheck All Network Drives. Click Save.

    Note: Even All Network Drives is not in Protection Scope, Kaspersky Endpoint Security will still protect users from opening a known virus infected file in network drives.



  5. If you will access some webpage that is signed by private certificate. Please Uncheck Check secure connections (HTTPS) or click the Trusted Zone... button to add the server's URL.


    Finish installation.

 

E. Update Database

  1. Click k from Menu Bar > Kaspersky Endpoint Security.

       

  2. Click Update icon.
        On the right hand side, click Update to finish the process. 

       

F. Upgrade from Previous Versions of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac

If you are using previous version of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac. It requires the software installation package to uninstall the older version of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac and then install the new version software. For steps of uninstallation, please refer to part E.

 

G.Uninstall Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac

To uninstall the software, it requires the software installation package. If you have not downloaded the package, please refer to part A.

 

  1. Double click installer file “kesmac12.1.0.553.dmg ” of Kaspersky Endpoint Security 12 for Mac.

  2. Control-click or right click the Uninstall Kaspersky Endpoint Security icon.
        Press Open to continue and click Open > Uninstall when the uninstallation window is prompt.

        Please note that a pop-up Window for next step may be shown behind the current Window.

       
       
       

  3. It will pop up windows for your permission. Enter your computer user password and click OK.

       

  4. Enter your computer user password and click OK to continue. 

       

  5. Click Allow to continue.

        

  6. Click Quit button when the uninstallation is completed. 

     

  7. Restart computer. 



    After the uninstallation of the older version of Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Mac, please restart the computer. 

 

H. To report false detection

If the Kaspersky Anti-Virus blocks your website or application and you suspect a false detection. Please click the link below to report to Kaspersky.
