Attention:
- This is a customized Kaspersky Endpoint Security version 12.5.0.539.
- Please uninstall any Kaspersky or 3rd party Antivirus software before installing this software.
- Please read the Kaspersky Hardware and Software Requirement before installation. This software version supports x86-based CPU Windows only.
Ai. First Installation - Download Kaspersky Endpoint Security Installation File
Before installation, you should first
- If you are now using a non-CUHK network connection (e.g. through a broadband service) or Wi-Fi (CUHK Wi-Fi Hotspot Partnership Programme), please set up a VPN connection before the download.
3. Save the installation file "CUHK_KES1250539" in a folder e.g. “C:\temp”
Aii. First Installation - Download Kaspersky Endpoint Security License Key File
- Download the key file from: http://www.itsc.cuhk.edu.hk/all-it/information-security/anti-virus-on-pcs/download-kaspersky-anti-virus-software
- Save the license key file “CUHK_KES1250539” to a folder e.g.“C:\temp”
Aiii. First Installation - Install Kaspersky Endpoint Security
- Double click the installation file “CUHK_KES1250539 ” that you just downloaded.
- If your Windows shows a prompt “User Account Control”, click “Yes” to continue.
- Click “Start installation” to continue.
- Once you see the installation is completed, click “OK” to continue.
- At the system tray of your desktop, double click the icon K to open Kaspersky Endpoint Security software. On the screen prompt, please click License on the left column.
Note: You may need to click icon ^ to expand the tray.
- Select Activate the application under a new license.
- Click Select key file with a key file.
- Click Browse and select the Key file from your local computer
(e.g. C:\temp\[License Key File name].key) you downloaded in Part Aii here. Please go back to Part Aii here if the file is not yet downloaded.
Click
Activate.
- Click Finish.
- Close the window.
- Restart your computer
(Remarks: It is required to “Restart” computer after installing / upgrading / uninstalling Anti-Virus software)
B. Check and run database updates
Regular database updates are essential for the Anti-Virus solution. To defend attack of the latest virus, a virus signature update is necessary. Sometimes, the Anti-Virus solution might block the latest version of a software by false detection. To ensure your Kaspersky Anti-Virus solution runs properly, please ensure that it has installed an active license and run the database update task regularly.
- To Check whether Kaspersky Anti-Virus solution gets the latest database: Click Monitoring, and check the date of the database version.
- To run database updates: click Update, then click Run update.
- To configure the schedule of the database update: click Update, click the wheel button, then click Database update schedule to check if it was set Automatically (recommended) OR to adjust it to a shorter time.
C. Updates Available Alert for Your Existing Kaspersky
- If you had installed our previous version of Kaspersky, you might see an alert bubble showing updates available while hovering your mouse to Kaspersky icon.
To continue the update, please click the Updates available icon and then agree the statement. Note: The update will not add new application component (if any).
- Click the Notification bell at the left bottom
- Select the latest update version and click OK to continue. Please agree the License Agreement to continue.
Agree the Kaspersky Security Network(KSN)
- Run Update task once to initial the update immediately. i.e. The location of the Update task button will differ on different versions of Kaspersky. Restart the computer when the icon of Kaspersky shows “Restart required”.
- Restart your computer
(Remarks: It is required to “Restart” computer after installing / upgrading / uninstalling Anti-Virus software)
IMPORTANT:
After restarting your computer, please check if the Kaspersky Endpoint Security software is upgraded to your agreed version and runs normally.
If not, your existing Kaspersky Endpoint Security may work abnormally. Please follow
Section D to uninstall the Kaspersky Endpoint Security and
Section A to reinstall it.
D. Uninstall Kaspersky Endpoint Security
- Search “Control Panel” and open Control Panel.
- Select Uninstall a program under Programs.
- Click Kaspersky Endpoint Security for Windows and click Change.
- Click Remove.
- Click Next to continue.
- Click Remove.
- Click Yes to continue.
- Click Finish.
- Restart your computer
(Remarks: It is required to “Restart” computer after installing / upgrading / uninstalling Anti-Virus software)
E. Customization of this installation package
- Package does NOT include the following components:
- This package enables Kaspersky Security Network (KSN)
